چکیده

DELLA proteins repress plant growth and developmental processes. Recent data suggest that DELLAs improve survival by imposing growth restraint during plant stress, enabling limited resources to be diverted to pathogen defence.

Step-by-Step Acquisition of the Gibberellin-DELLA Growth-Regulatory Mechanism during Land-Plant Evolution

Angiosperms (flowering plants) evolved relatively recently and are substantially diverged from early land plants (bryophytes, lycophytes, and others [1]). The phytohormone gibberellin (GA) adaptively regulates angiosperm growth via the GA-DELLA signaling mechanism [2-7]. GA binds to GA receptors (GID1s), thus stimulating interactions between GID1s and the growth-repressing DELLAs [8-12]. Subseq...

Plant DELLAs Restrain Growth and Promote Survival of Adversity by Reducing the Levels of Reactive Oxygen Species

Plant growth is adaptively modulated in response to environmental change. The phytohormone gibberellin (GA) promotes growth by stimulating destruction of the nuclear growth-repressing DELLA proteins [1-7], thus providing a mechanism for environmentally responsive growth regulation [8, 9]. Furthermore, DELLAs promote survival of adverse environments [8]. However, the relationship between these s...

Gibberellin Signaling Controls Cell Proliferation Rate in Arabidopsis

Plant growth involves the integration of many environmental and endogenous signals that together with the intrinsic genetic program determine plant size. At the cellular level, growth rate is regulated by the combined activity of two processes: cell proliferation and expansion. Gibberellins (GA) are plant-specific hormones that play a central role in the regulation of growth and development wit...

Binding of GID1 to DELLAs promotes dissociation of GAF1 from DELLA in GA dependent manner

Gibberellins (GAs) are important phytohormones for plant growth and development. DELLAs are members of the plant-specific GRAS protein family and act as repressors of GA signaling. DELLAs are rapidly degraded in the presence of GAs. GA-GID1-DELLA complexes are recognized and ubiquitinated by the SCF(SLY) complex. The sleepy1 (sly1) F-box mutant exhibits dwarfism and low-germination phenotypes d...

How do oomycete effectors interfere with plant life?

Oomycete genomes have yielded a large number of predicted effector proteins that collectively interfere with plant life in order to create a favourable environment for pathogen infection. Oomycetes secrete effectors that can be active in the host's extracellular environment, for example inhibiting host defence enzymes, or inside host cells where they can interfere with plant processes, in parti...
